This attempt was a success. I switched back to Fomapan 200 and removed the Potassium Bromide from the recipe. For this attempt I went back to recipe 4, doubled the number of clove supplements, using 2 tablets rather than 1, and mixed the clove juice fresh, and used immediately. The Recipe 2 clove tablets dissolvedContinue reading “Sixth Attempt”

Info on equipment.
All tests so far have been taken using an Olympus OM2n SLR with a Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lens. Most images have been taken using the camera’s metering automatically setting shutter speed, with aperture manually set.
Fourth attempt
This attempt was focussed on trying to reduce the grain in the images, and was developed using the same recipe as attempt 3, but the developer was set at 20.4°C, reduced from 28°C. Results Very happy with these, a definite improvement. The images are sharp. Contrast in the negatives was a bit low, and IContinue reading “Fourth attempt”
Third attempt
The second try at this was really grainy, and the negatives were very dense, which would indicate that I’d really overexposed the film. For this third attempt I halved the development time, using the same recipe. The negatives were still dense but much better developed. Ingredients 1 x 500mg clove supplement tablet 27g Sodium CarbonateContinue reading “Third attempt”
Second Attempt
The first attempt was very underdeveloped so back to the drawing board. I realised that the caffenol recipe I’d based my clove recipe on was intended for long stand development, of about 70 minutes, and had a low Sodium Carbonate content so my development time was far too short. This time I increased the SodiumContinue reading “Second Attempt”
First Attempt
I’ve been looking for alternatives to off the shelf developer solutions for film. I started my home development journey using Cinestill DF96 monobath, and I can foresee that disposal of the developer will be a pain, so I started researching alternatives. Caffenol seems to be a viable and well researched alternative however in the quantitiesContinue reading “First Attempt”
